WHAT WE DO
THE PROBLEM:
There are over 3,000 children currently in the Orange County foster care system. Many of these children often feel thrown away and that they're not good enough. The second-hand clothing they are dressed in can perpetuate these feelings.
When they are removed from their homes, sometimes there is little to no time to pack their possessions and many children move from home to home with the ill-fitted, donation clothing they've acquired in trash bags. These trash bags can be symbolic of their feelings of worthlessness - and ultimately may be a contributing factor as to why just 20% of foster children are deemed "successful" (can hold down a job) later in life.
HOW WE HELP:
The feeling of having a new dress, or a new pair of shoes can bring a child who has lost everything, a little piece of pride. The Give Back Pack Foundation puts together and distributes backpacks filled with NEW clothing, toys, pajamas, shoes, books, stuffed animals, etc.
We do this by strategically seeking online shopping deals and advertising them to our followers through our website and social media.
We parlay the activity of sale shopping to put new merchandise into the hands of those who need it most - foster children. We alert our followers to all the great deals out there and ask them to pick up something extra for a foster child.
